No coincidences

I believe everything happens for a reason, and there are no coincidences. From the unplanned meeting of two people who fall in love, to a friend defying travel restrictions to learn a new art form that he teaches you, to you reading these words at this very moment in time. None of these are a mistake and it is because of this belief that I was called to create a space for CQC Arts to express myself.

About CQC Arts

CQC Arts is an endeavor that aims to engage people to search for the hidden meaning and mystery in the world around us. Once an individual seeks and searches for deeper, universal meaning in their day-to-day lives, they can start to see the beauty and mystery that exists in abundance everywhere around us.

CQC Arts is a BIPOC owned small business where everything is designed in Ontario. It is an arts hub seeking to grow with the support of cherished community members who believe in a similar vision.

Vision

CQC Arts operates with the intentions of sharing art and experiences that are aligned with the search for meaning, curious exploration, and a peaceful practice of self-love.

Land Acknowledgement

I would like to firstly acknowledge that I am an uninvited guest on stolen, unceded land. My studio is on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Anishnabe, and the Ho-do-no-sau-nee. I am grateful to Indigenous communities for their knowledge, education, and providing a safe haven for my family and many South Asian immigrant families to start a new life in. I would also like to acknowledge the systemic genocide and erasure of Indigenous people and identity that has taken place historically and continues to take place to this day in Canada. What can we do to become allies? We must actively build bridges with Indigenous communities, share their stories and knowledge through education, and become allies through our words and actions. On a personal note, I am eternally grateful for the knowledge Indigenous Elders have shared with me about spirituality through the Great Creator and Turtle Island, as it’s given me a language to articulate something deep within me.

About Nawaaz

Nawaaz (he/him/his) is an educator, activist, and multi-disciplinary artist. He has cis-het privilege, male privilege, WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich & democratic) privilege, able bodied and able speech privilege, and many other privileges he continues to uncover as part of his identity. He has been exploring different art forms (writing, water marbling and tabla) to better understand himself and his place in the world around him. Nawaaz’s work and his collaborations often meet at the intersection of mental health, consent education, unwrapping toxic masculinity and healing generational trauma.
